Our family moved to Marathon in 1979 and have been productive members of our community ever since. We have raised two beautiful children in the Keys and fully understand how our Community works and all it has to offer. It has been an honor to be chosen for this prestigious leadership class. Learning about the Keys History, how our local government works and to help our Keyswide Communities come together will further enhance my knowledge of the area and make more services available to our Clients.
1998-Present Member of the Zonta Club of Marathon
Throughout the years I have been an active member of this wonderful organization. Our mission is to help enhance the status of Women & Children
in our Community. I organized and coordinated Aaron concerts for the benefit of the Grace Jones Day Care Center which generated thousands of dollars in ticket sales. The proceeds from the concession stand went to benefit the marching band program at the Marathon High School.
I chair the Radio Days fundraisers for our Club. . My leadership and coordination of this fundraiser helped us raise over $80,000 in donations, the highest levels ever raised by our Membership.
1996-2000 Member of the Board of Directors at the Domestic Abuse Shelter in Marathon
As an advocate against Domestic violence, my participation on this board was very gratifying. It is my goal to educate and empower young women to identify and prevent becoming victims of domestic violence.
2000-Present Member of the Board of Trustees at Fishermen’s Hospital Association, Inc.
Our Board is responsible to making sure the Leases with the Hospital Administrators (currently HMA) are being complied with and that Our Community receives the best medical care available. As chairperson for the Compliance Committee I was responsible for coordinating quarterly inspections of the Hospital, follow up to be sure that safety items were being addressed and staying involved in the negotiations of the lease renewal options.
I also chaired the AED Committee responsible for placing 20 heart diffribulator units throughout the Community.
